Distance training with Peanut

Creek crossing with Willow

Good morning America! What a wonderful start to our Ride Across America. The ride through Camp LeJeune was great although things did not start off as planned. The horses did fine traveling even with our delay with truck problems, brakes over heating.  We found a grassy spot to pull over and unhook. I took the truck to get it looked at while Joi, Jessica and Ethan stayed with the horses. They took everything in stride and were happy to graze. We didn’t make it to Camp LeJeune and get settled in until around 11pm.

We were up bright and early to get started on the ride and left around 8:30am.  I rode Chance and ponied Pix. Jessica rode Peanut and Ethan was on Willow. The kids had never ridden off our place so it was a great adventure for all. Our adventures continued when we got stuck while trying to turn the truck and trailer around. We learned more than we wanted to about big tow trucks and their cost for use/towing.

After all the unintended excitement and stress we decided it best to take everyone home and regroup. I will begin again March 20th. Many thanks to Jessica and Ethan for their endless and tireless love and support, Mr. Frank Acevedo Jr., MGySgt USMC retired at Camp LeJuene for being so patient, understanding and supportive, and the wonderful people who stayed and helped us with the horses when we got our truck stuck. The good Lord was with us and everything and one is good.
